Blowing My Mind
Updated: Nov 30, 2022
A few reviews back I covered the various hair styling tools, currently on the market in my blog entitled, Hair Comes the Bride. There, I reviewed devices ranging from the blow dryer to flat irons and the brush-styled blow dryer, which up until now has been my personal favorite.
During a recent trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario to celebrate my husband's birthday, which oh by the way if you want to take a quicky getaway and have the time of your life then this is the place to go (details to be described in an upcoming review on quick getaways) that I became reacquainted with the marvels of a good old fashioned blow dryer.
The Conair 1875 has to be one of the best blow dryers on the market. Reasonably priced, the Conair has only two settings but that's all you need. When in a high position, the air is hot and forceful, yet quiet as a whisper. It's lightweight, and easy to handle making for a quick dry, and beautiful style.
One thing you can be sure of if you visit Niagara Falls is, your hair is going to get wet. Not only from the all-natural mist of the Falls themselves, but the hotels also offer extra comforts like a swimming pool, hot tub, and sauna. With so much fun, you will tend to forget about your coiffe. Yet, you want to look your best when going out in the evening to partake in the fine dining and Casino action. The Conair 1875s are not only my favorite because they fit conveniently into any travel bag but they are easy to maneuver through your hair without tangling. The cord is just long enough to reach any wall outlet without straining.

While this is a high-tech version of the standard blow dryer, it's hard to believe that such a versatile dryer such as this can be so reasonably priced, as it does so much and cost so little. Compared to some of the higher-priced brands, this can easily become your go-to tool for styling as the attachments offer a variety of styles when going from curly to straight, are easy to use, and gives you that salon-finished touch.
Jumping off of the Conair bandwagon, the Drybar Buttercup Blow Dryer | Lightweight & Powerful by Drybar is fast becoming the go-to of all blow dryers. Why? Because its claim to fame is that it reduces that annoying frizz, leaving hair silky smooth, which is usually the look I am going for. Its high-power also reduces drying time, which can be a key factor to consider when you are on the run.
According to the Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty Lab, before purchasing the blow dryer of your dreams, consider your needs. Having tested an endless number of blow dryers and among the rating criteria, the Lab selected the best dryers based on airflow and drying time. While the differences between blow dryers were minimal, selecting a blow dryer based on your hair type, that is either damaged or fine, curly or thick should be taken into consideration when purchasing.
My need is that I want one blow dryer that can do it all. Give me volume, curly, bouncy, or super straight whenever I want, is easy to handle, and is great for traveling. I don't want to purchase several different dryers depending on my day, mood, or disposable cash. If it can go with my flow, I am willing to spend a little more for a long-lasting, durable blow dryer.
