Fade To Black

For those of you who have visited the Shop Shop Shop page on the website www.wilsrecordshop.com, you know that one of the featured items is the Bluetooth 5.0 Wireless Music Eye Mask, LC-dolida Sleeping Headphones for Side Sleepers, with Ultra-Thin HD Stereo Speakers Perfect for Sleeping, Air Travel, Meditation. Imagine my surprise when reading an article on the benefits of taking a daily 30-minute nap to find one of the offered suggestions to help daytime nappers get to sleep was to get a blackout mask. That synchronous feeling of being one with the universe was nothing short of exhilarating.

I was first introduced to the concept of "blackout" when my good friend Tina had moved into a new apartment and she was ordering a blackout shade. She was even more excited when moving to yet another apartment that came with blackout shades - it was the deal clincher. Then, there's that scene in the movie The Proposal, where Margret and Andrew are staying at Andrew's parent's home in Sikka Alaska (which has daylight 24 hours a day) and at night, they remotely lower the blackout shades.
I am actually dying to get a blackout sleep mask, (as featured on the site) and have asked my husband to buy me a pair. I can't wait to see what it's like to have all of the light blocked out with music filtered through the built-in HD speaker to filter drift me off to never never land. You have to understand, I live in the big city with bright lights where at 3:00 in the morning when the night sky is at its darkest, our high-rise apartment is lit up only second to Times Square. Or to actually believe, in the middle of the day, I can put on my blackout mask and peacefully without the light of day, go to sleep - for a whole 30 minutes - really.

At the time, I never understood why Tina would want blackout curtains. That, however, was years ago when our daughters were classmates at Woodside PreSchool and I was still pretty much full of vim, vigor, and zest. Now, that I've been marching double time for quite a number of years, I am ready to embrace the darkness, see where it takes me. I'm always up for an adventure.
